The Miracles of NADH + DIM

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) is a fascinating molecule that plays a crucial role in our cells.
  1. Energy Metabolism and Redox Reactions:
    • NAD shuttles electrons during redox reactions, which are essential for energy production. When molecules need to transfer energy or electrons, NAD is utilized.
    • Specifically, it exists in two forms:
      • NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide): This is the oxidized form. It acts as an electron acceptor, grabbing electrons from other molecules.
      • NADH: This is the reduced form. It carries those electrons around, ready to donate them wherever needed.
    • Think of NAD+ as the superhero, and NADH as the assistant—always ready and able to assist during metabolic reactions.
  2. Anti-Aging and Cellular Health:
    • As we age, NAD levels decline. Researchers believe that boosting NAD could help combat age-related conditions.
    • Early studies (mostly in animals) suggest that NAD supplementation might:
      • Prolong health and increase energy.

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a vital coenzyme found throughout your body, playing a critical role in energy production, metabolism, and cellular repair. As we age, our NAD+ levels naturally decline.

DIM

Diindolylmethane is made in the body from a chemical called indole-3-carbinol, which is found in cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower and broccoli. It appears to help destroy cancer cells and reduce swelling. Some studies associate high cruciferous vegetable intake with a reduced risk of certain cancers, including breast and prostate cancer. While the exact mechanism is unknown, indole-3-carbinol is thought to be partly responsible.

Early research indicates DIM is thought to help balance estrogen levels in the body.  Specifically, DIM may stimulate the production of a less potent, more beneficial form of estrogen known as 2-hydroxyestrone.  It may also help reduce the effects of a stronger form called 16 alpha-hydroxyestrone, which has been linked to weight gain and an increased risk of some cancers, including breast and uterine cancer.

Additionally, DIM has been shown to inhibit an enzyme called aromatase, which converts testosterone to estrogen. While cruciferous vegetables are the primary food source of DIM, you would need to eat several servings every day to reap this compound’s benefits. NADH + DIM is the answer to therapeutic doses from OHS, researched and formulated by Dr Marc Harris.

DIM supplements are purported to aid other hormone-related conditions. Still, it’s important to remember that research is in the early stages.  Below is a partial list of potential benefits.
  • May fight acne.
  • May reduce hot flashes.
  • May relieve PMS symptoms.
  • May correct estrogen imbalances in men. High levels of estrogen in men are linked to breast growth, erectile dysfunction, and infertility. Limited studies suggest that DIM supplements may help reduce prostate enlargement.
