Toxic Effects of the Weedkiller (Glyphosate)
Glyphosate,
the world’s most used pesticide, including Roundup, has a very bad rap
sheet. Billions of pounds have been applied globally since the 1970s.
The US is 4% of the population but annually uses 20% of the world’s
supply.
This is most likely one of the reasons our chronic disease is so much
higher than other countries. Some of our Six Steps to Wellness Doctor’s
work in rural areas and testify the farmers are getting sicker and
harder to help since using roundup on their lands. Much evidence is
available that glyphosates are seriously detrimental to our health and
wellness with more evidence piling up continually. Yet it is still legal
in the US. Why is that, I wonder?
You can have yourself tested for accumulation in your body. Studies have
linked glyphosate to cancer, endocrine disruption, infertility, immune
dysfunction, liver damage, kidney damage, and disruption of the
microbiome. Glyphosate is harming human and animal health and at the
same time, is destroying our ecosystems.
I recently heard a presentation by Stephanie Seneff, a Senior Research
Scientist at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence
Laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She has a bachelor's degree from
MIT in Biology with a minor in Food and Nutrition Science, and a
master’s degree, an engineer’s degree, and a PhD degree, all from MIT,
in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.
She has been focusing on the role of toxic chemicals and micronutrient
deficiencies in health and disease, with a special emphasis on the
pervasive herbicide, glyphosate, and the mineral, sulfur. Since 2008,
she has authored over three dozen peer-reviewed journal papers on these
topics.
She is the author of a new book on glyphosate titled Toxic Legacy: How the Weedkiller Glyphosate is Destroying Our Health and the Environment (July 2021). In the book, she
gives us an in-depth look at the dangers of glyphosate for our health and our world.
Continuously, we are discovering how powerful the microbiome is for
affecting our health either for good or for bad. We now know glyphosate
directly damages our good bacteria by disrupting the shikimate pathway, a
process responsible for producing certain amino acids that are
important for gene expression.
Glyphosates also cause leaky gut syndrome. This causes proteins to leak
into the bloodstream and creates systemic inflammation. Inflammation is
listed as a catalyst for all chronic diseases. Dr. Stephanie explains
the concept of molecular mimicry and autoimmune disease as well, and how
glyphosate ties into this increasing problem.
Glyphosate depletes glutathione, our master antioxidant, which is
involved in our optimal biology. It dramatically impacts our sulfur,
methylation, and detoxification pathways that have many essential roles
for our health. Glyphosate is a toxin we want to avoid. To make matters
worse, it makes other chemicals more toxic because we are less able to
process and eliminate them because of the faulty methylation that is
triggered.
Glyphosate impacts the body, the soil, our biome, and the pollinators,
etc. We need to understand the full danger of the issue and identify
ways to clean up the problem. I do not personally want exposed to any
amount. How is that possible currently? How do we get positive action to
reduce and remove this toxic substance? These are important questions
we need answers for as soon as possible.
These are concerns and questions that need resolution. I will not ever
use glyphosates at my home or office, and I will strive to find quality
foods/supplements that are not drenched in this toxic substance.
I take 3 drops of OHS’s Opti-Metals Detox each morning and 3 drops of the Opti-Enviro Detox each evening to assist my detoxification process.
I also utilize OHS’s Opti-Methyl B and Dr. Harris formulated Essential Glutathione daily, to offset exposure to toxic substances and assist the methylation processes.
We need to understand the full danger of these issues and identify ways to clean up our external in internal environment.
