Your Body Needs Healthy Mitochondria to Master Allergies
April 22, 2019 Puzzle Piece
“The
prevalence of allergies and asthma among the world’s population has
been steadily increasing due to environmental factors. It has been
described that exposure to jet fuel, pesticides, herbicides, ozone,
diesel exhaust particles, tobacco smoke, etc. exacerbates allergic
inflammation in the lungs. These environmental oxidants increase the
levels of cellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) and induce
mitochondrial dysfunction in the airway epithelium,” said Leopoldo
Aguilera-Aguirre et al. in a 2009 study called Mitochondrial Dysfunction Increases Allergic Airway Inflammation.
“The connections between allergy, asthma and metabolic syndrome
are becoming increasingly clear,” said Dr. Iyer, et al. in a 2017 review
called Mitochondrial Function in Allergic Disease. “Recent research suggests a unifying mitochondrial link between the diverse phenotypes of these interlinked morbidities.”
The review explored the connection between mitochondria function
and how environmental allergens affected it. It also considered the
potential of mitochondria-targeted therapies in prevention and cure.
The Connection Between Allergies and Mitochondria
“Recent research has shown allergy, asthma and metabolic syndrome
to be linked to mitochondrial dysfunction,” Dr. Iyer et al. said.
“Environmental pollutants and allergens are observed to cause
mitochondrial dysfunction, primarily by inducing oxidative stress and
ROS production. Malfunctioning mitochondria change the bioenergetics of
the cell and its metabolic profile to favor systemic inflammation, which
drives all three types of morbidities.”
Aguilera-Aguirre and crew learned that exposure to pollen induces
oxidative damage to mitochondrial respiratory chain proteins. “Results
suggested that RWE exposure causes oxidative modifications to cellular
and mitochondrial proteins, resulting in sustained ROS generation from
mitochondria.”
Pollen triggers ROS production from mitochondrial respiratory
chain complex III. “Data further support that in RWE-treated cells
complex III was the major site of ROS released into the inner membrane
space of mitochondria altering intracellular oxidative stress levels.”
If you’ve been suffering from allergies, you most likely have
mitochondrial damage. Aguilera-Aguirre et al. investigated whether a
preexisting mitochondrial damage exacerbates allergic airway
inflammation. Preexisting mitochondrial dysfunction in the airways was,
in fact, shown to increase allergic inflammation and bronchial
hyperresponsiveness.
Both groups concluded that it’s important to take proactive
measures to maintain mitochondrial integrity, which in turn minimizes
allergic reactions. Allergies can get worse with age if the oxidative
damage they cause goes unchecked.
Opti-Mito-Force
Mitochondria take in nutrients and break them down into energy in
and for every one of your cells. As you age, your mitochondria become
less efficient and have increased die off. How many mitochondria you
have, determines your energy levels and endurance. The healthier
mitochondria you have, the more mitochondria you can manufacture.
Research demonstrates the PQQ's, like are in Opti-Mito-Force,
play a critical role across a wide range of biological functions. Like
CoQ10, it is a powerful micronutrient. Taking care of your mitochondria
can help take care of your allergies, energy and overall health.
The latest advances in mitochondrial bioenergetics is coenzyme PQQ
(pyrroloquinoline quinone). It supports how well mitochondria function
and this formula contains the most potent form. The antioxidant capacity
of pine bark, grape seed and skin, and more, provides extraordinary
defense against damage from oxidants and stimulates the growth of fresh
new mitochondria. This formula also contains superoxide dismutase
building blocks, which help your body create more powerful antioxidants
on its own.
Opti-Mito-Force
contains proven nutrients that can revive your mitochondria, which may
minimize --if not eliminate--your allergies. It can accomplish this by
helping your mitochondria be strong enough to neutralize oxidative
damage and the stress allergies cause. This synergistic formula helps
repair and preserve cell wall integrity, that just might put a little
extra “spring” in your step.
Also remember, digestive enzymes (Optimal 1 Digestion) and balanced pre and probiotics (Optimal Flora Plus) are also extremely important in preventing allergies.
