Science Behind Fat Loss and Weight Management
May 28, 2018 Puzzle Piece
Keto
is a trending weight loss diet, which breaks down what you eat into 70%
fats, 25% proteins, and 5% carbs. The goal is to break away from simple
and refined sugars. Fat isn’t the enemy when it comes to weight
management; empty carbs are.
For many doctors and nutritionists, including Dr. Harris and
myself, Keto compliments an individual’s genetic metabolic
predisposition or lifestyle. Some others, like formulator Doug Grant,
it takes a more heavily plant-based approach to drop those pesky, pudgy
pounds. Some body types react better to a diet that breaks down into 50%
carbs, 30% fat, and 20% protein.
Whichever macronutrient ratio works best for your body type, the
bottom line is you have body fat you want to get rid of. This means
tapping into the benefits of a research-proven nutrient called
conjugated linoleic acid (CLA).
CLA has been shown to speed things up, thus encouraging people to stick with it in five ways:
- Increases Fat Metabolism
Many
factors dictate how well your metabolism functions. When it comes to
dropping unwanted pounds, you want to make sure you’re not just getting
rid of water weight or losing muscle mass. You want to hit the fat burn
zone and stay there as much as possible.
In studies, CLA has been shown to increase energy expenditure by
increasing basal metabolic rate. This promotes increased heat and
energy production and by increasing the amount of fat that you burn at
rest (also known as lipid oxidation).
- Can Help Your Body Prevent the Creation of New Fat Cells
To
put it simply, foods can be placed in one of two categories: foods that
encourage your body to burn energy, and foods that encourage your body
to store energy. We always encourage you to make healthy dietary choices
no matter what challenges and holidays life throws at you. The more
good choices you make, the more favorable your body responds.
CLA’s role in this is very interesting. Studies show it tends to
help you burn fat indirectly by preventing your body from storing it in
the first place. This means that cheat days and cheat meals don’t spell
the end of reaching your weight loss goals.
- Reduces Inflammation
Inflammation
is at the heart of many serious diseases ranging from cancer to weight
gain. It may sound strange because it’s gone under the radar for so
long. Recent studies show that inflammation is a serious problem in
many conditions and an increasing numbers people.
CLA has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. This may
help to explain its anti-cancer and anti-cholesterol effects. CLA has
also been shown to help reduce enteric (or intestinal) inflammation as
well as systemic (whole body) inflammation. To reap these
anti-inflammatory benefits, the CLA must be sourced from plants like OHS’s Optimal LipoLean CLA.
- Promotes Healthy Metabolic Function & Has Anti-Diabetic Properties
Insulin
resistance is a major problem and cause of weight gain in many people
in the United States. Insulin resistance stems from inflammation,
metabolic derangement and the over consumption of sugary or carbohydrate
heavy foods. Insulin is considered a "fat storage" hormone which
promotes the storage of calories and energy as fat and adipose tissue in
your body.
Daily CLA use has been shown to increase insulin sensitivity (make
insulin more effective) and daily use for 12 weeks has shown to
increase proinsulin, c-peptide and adiponectin concentrations. It’s not a
replacement for diabetic medication but can make losing weight easier
by allowing your body to let go of unwanted pounds.
- Suppresses Appetite
Daily
CLA use has been shown to help reduce appetite and promote satiety or
feelings of fullness. Reducing the appetite helps people lose weight.
For health’s sake, it is important that patients don’t go overboard with
appetite suppression. Long term appetite suppression can lead to
metabolic damage and weight gain overtime with a yoyo effect.
CLA can be used to help prevent an intake of EXCESSIVE calories,
but it should not be used to promote caloric restriction (less than
1,200 calories per day). You shouldn’t have the body feeling constantly
hungry, even when trying to lose weight. CLA gives you that edge of
reduction without the cravings.
Intermittent water fasts can speed up the weight loss and increase
health. We will cover this in our seminars and especially at Homecoming
2019. Dr Harris does a water fast for 14 consecutive days, twice per
year. I did a 7-day water fast last month. Dr Harper also uses water
fasts in his practice and personally. This is a positive action in
conjunction to using the CLA as discussed.
Dosing
Optimal LipoLean CLA™
is pure CLA in the potency needed based on all the research. For it to
be effective, you need to take 4 grams per day for 12 weeks. Your body
acclimates to it for the first four weeks, preparing your cells to
package up excess fat and remove it from your body. The next 8 weeks
your body steadily removes up to 4% body fat.
You get a full three-month supply in a bottle of Optimal LipoLean
CLA. You don’t have to worry about refilling before the full 12 weeks
are up. You can continue to take CLA for up to six months before you’ll
want to cycle off awhile to do a soft reset on your system. There are
no known negative side effects when taken as directed.
OHS also has Optimal Fat • Sugar • Trim™,
with highly effective ingredients that serve as a metabolic aid, which
can lead to weight loss. LipoLean CLA, focuses solely on fat loss.
CLA has been proven to be effective in hundreds of studies, which
show huge differences between people who took 3 to 4 grams of CLA per
day and those who took a placebo. The key with CLA is balance, taking
enough and the purity of the product. Emphasize taking 3-4 grams of CLA
per day for 12 solid weeks. This has proven to reduce body fat mass by
4% and to reduce food cravings.
